Drilling a well… what is the impact?

We don’t really know the impact of our actions. I was watching a video clip the other day about drilling wells and their impact. Here were some of the words some people from a village used to describe the impacts of a well by their homes: Life. Health. Hope. It’s not only to survive, but to dream. No longer watch their children slowly die. As a mother, I cannot even imagine such a life. So blessed. So humbled. Honored to be part of God’s story.

It’s true that what seems like a small thing to us can mean everything to others. That’s why it’s so important to listen to God’s voice in everything. My mother and sister, both nurses, recently returned from a trip to Haiti where they volunteered their skills as nurses. It was life changing for everyone involved.

Would love to hear some of the stories they came back with. Wondering if it was the same team we met at the airport – did they work in a hospital in the northern part of Haiti? Don’t remember the name, but people came from hours away to get medical attention. The lead person had some great stories about some of the people who came to the hospital. I’m always amazed at some of the things we hear about how God gently leaves His mark in people’s lives on all of our mission trips. So, yes, I agree totally that listening to God’s voice and keeping our eyes open to what he’s doing is key to missions. That, and leaving ourselves out of the equation so God can work through us.
